Witnesses of God surround us daily
If we quit rushing about and open our eyes, we see multiple reminders that God provides. Daily, He sends these messages and images as witnesses of His love and care.
Examples of witnesses
What witnesses, you ask? Consider these:
- The glorious scenery that speaks volumes of His creativity.
- The vast array of stars in a dark, country sky.
- Flowers and blossoming trees in the spring.
- Abundant harvests in the autumn.
- Sunshine.
- Rain.
- Laughter.
- Children.
- Animals, both wild and our pets. I remember my eagle sightings.
- Images in the snow or clouds or dust that remind you of Jesus.
- Rainbows.
- People calling or sending notes because they are thinking of you just when you need encouragement.
- Help when you are in distress.
- Unexpected gifts.
- After months of searching, what you seek materializes when you’ve almost given up.
- The chance encounter with someone.
- You need something and someone brings it to you out of the blue even though you never mentioned your need to anyone.
From this list, you get the idea. What desires do you hold in your heart? For many years, I yearned to see a wild eagle, but now I see eagles when I’m out on a walk or when I drive somewhere. Amazing.
Sometimes witnesses come in the form of someone telling you something you don’t want to hear but need to hear.
Reminders sometimes subtle
Oh, how we must stay alert. These reminders that God sees you, knows you, cares for you come in unexpected ways. You may not even realize the encounter until later, but if you think about it, you realize that you missed it. Just remembering it is a witness.
New promises fill each day. If we’ll just shrug off the negative things that encumber us, we will notice a great cloud of witnesses through people and through nature.
This verse reminds us:
In earlier days he permitted all the nations to go their own ways, but he never left himself without a witness. There were always his reminders, such as sending you rain and good crops and giving you food and joyful hearts. –Acts 14:16-17 (NLT).
God is good. All the time. I needed this message. Did you? Please share a specific incident that served as a witness for you.

God shows His love and glory in the simple moments of life and the major moments in life, too. Recently, a friend diagnosed with a rare disease was hospitalized with a prognosis that made us all cry. Within a month, she is back home and healing. God’s mercy is new every morning. His plan for our friend has not been completed on earth yet. I am thankful for the opportunity to share His love and glory with others.
Melissa, I’m so glad to hear your friend is home and doing better. Thank you for sharing His love and glory with others and for sharing your encouraging spirit. When we see how He is working, it brings so much joy and awe.
